Uğur Tekin is a lecturer at the SRH University of Applied Sciences, Heidelberg, Germany. Prior to that, he was the chair of the Department of Social Work at Istanbul Kent University between 2019 and 2022. From 2019 to 2021, he was also the Dean of the Faculty of Economic, Administrative and Social Sciences in the same university. Previously, he founded and chaired the Department of Social Work at Istanbul Aydin University between 2015 and 2019. He completed his Ph.D. at Köln University, Germany. Between 2000 and 2010, he worked at Köln University, Klagenfurt University and the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf. His research interests cover social work, social pedagogy, migration studies, youth studies and criminal studies. He has published books, articles and reports on Syrian refugees in Turkey, on social work with refugees, the resilience of the elderly in Istanbul during the COVID-19 pandemic, transnational social work, criminalization of youth, social work with street children and education.
