Was born in 1975 in Diyarbakır. She graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University and received her graduate degree from Bilkent University. She is among the founders of  the Diyarbakır Institute for Political and Social Research (DISA) and author of the books O Gün (2014), Kürdistan'da Sivil Toplum (2015) and Ezidiler: 73. Ferman (2016), all published by İletişim Yayınları. Nurcan Baysal writes for the T24 online newspaper alongside various other platforms like Open Democracy.
