Funda Karapehlivan is a sociologist and a researcher on human rights, education and gender equality. She graduated from Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara University. She has an MA degree on Theory and Practice of Human Rights and a PhD in Sociology from University of Essex. After finishing her PhD, she worked as a lecturer at Marmara University, Sociology Department from 2008 until her dismissal on 7th February 2017 due to her signing of the Academics for Peace Petition. She has publications on the right to education, higher education policy, citizenship and gender equality. She is currently working as an independent researcher and as a translator.
