Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülay Uğur Göksel is ta faculty member in the Department of International Relations at Istanbul Bilgi University, and a founding member of the Association for Migration Research (GAR). She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her work bridges political theory and migration studies, focusing on social cohesion, identity, memory, and the role of art in civic engagement. She is the Main Proposer and Action Chair Candidate of JAMM (Justice, Arts, Memory, Migration: Creating Solidarities across Borders), a COST Action funded by the European Union that builds a transdisciplinary European network for arts-based research at the intersection of migration, heritage, and cultural justice. She is currently leading a multi-paper research programme examining the relationship between migration and solidarity from theoretical and aesthetic perspectives. The programme interrogates how solidarity becomes structurally invisible in social life and how it may find renewed expression through festivals, artistic practices, and public performance.
