Yasemin Öz graduated from the Faculty of Law at Ankara University in 1997. She is member of Kaos GL, the Foundation for Women’s Solidarity and the Amargi Women’s Cooperative and acted as lawyer for these organizations. In 2010 she joined ECSOL (European Commission on Sexual Orientation Law), the organization of lawyers working on issues of sexual orientation and gender identity, as Turkey’s representation. She is one of the founders of the Association for the Struggle against Sexual Violence, established in 2014. In 2013 Öz was granted the Felipa de Souza prize by IGLHRC (International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission).
