Ercan Kanar is a lawyer registered with the İstanbul Bar Association. He served the İstanbul Human Rights Association in the capacity of president and vice president from 1990 to 1998. He has written articles for Özgür Gündem, Birikim, Güncel Hukuk, Hukuk ve Adalet and many other newspapers and periodicals.
